So I was given Natural Moisture’s new products to try: Nashe Moisturising Hair Conditioner and Moisturising Hair Cream. I am always a bit uneasy about trying new products. What if it doesn’t work? What if I end up with hair drier than straw (which has happened before)? What if I cannot reverse the damage? These are the questions that run through my head. This time however, although I did have a few concerns, I was made to feel easy by the fact that I know Natural Moisture’s products, I swear by their Twist and Shine Shea Butter, and I know Ruth (the founder of Natural Moisture) personally, and she herself has gorgeous natural hair.

I had promised to give you all the details about my faux locs at the end of last year, but the festive season got its grip on me, and I ended up being too busy to sit down and write. Nevertheless, here I am now to give you the low down.

• Hello! My name is Nceba Mbava, I’m 29 years old. I live in Johannesburg,  originally from the eastern cape from a place called Mfundisweni, in an area formerly known as Transkei.

As naturals we are accustomed to getting some really weird comments about our hair, from black people, and non-black people alike. There are those that we just brush aside, but there are those that are just annoying and even downright rude, to say the least. So I thought it necessary to address some of these unwarranted comments, and set the record straight.
